The latest innovation of Porsche Tuner speedART is the tuned and modified version of the new Porsche 997 Turbo 3,8l with PDK-gearbox: The speedART BTR-II 650 EVO (Bi-Turbo-Racer, 2. generation with 650 hp and Evolution-body kit). It is based on Porsche 997 Turbo with 3,8l engine and PDK shiftbox. The power increase of 150 hp and 150 nm consits of a modified motronic to enlarged the power boost in combination with bigger VTG-turbo chargers, a sport exhaust with sport cats and twin tail pipes plus sport headers/manifolds, sport air filter and enlarged intercoolers. The sport exhaust is available with sound control switch, too. The acceleration 0-100 km/h is 3,2 sec. and top speed over 330 km/h.

Body Kit

The body kit “BTR-II EVO” consists of an new designed front bumer with spoiler lip and gun-metal frames for more downforce and better brake cooling (EVO-version), side skirts, rear diffuser and a rear spoiler with movable rear wing. The rear wing is available in car colour or original carbon (car on pictures painted in bi-color-version).

2010 Chevron Racing Cars GR8 Cosworth - Chevron Sports Cars

Chevron Racing Cars is exhibiting the new Chevron GR8 in prototype chassis form at Autosport International. The new mid-engined competition coupe with Cosworth YD 2.0 litre power is being built for the one-make Chevron GR8 Challenge Series. UK-based specialist race car construction company Chevron have revealed the production specifications and images of their latest vehicle, the GR8. The GR8, which is the company's first all-new coupe for forty years, uses some of the design cues from Chevron's previous B8 coupe model. Although for the new car the bodywork has been made considerably sharper and more contemporary.

Organised by the British Automobile Racing Club (BARC), the Series will make its racing debut at Silverstone on 8/9 May 2010. Two Series rounds are to be staged at each of seven BARC race meetings. An additional round is a possibility if racing is resumed at Donington Park.

The final decision by Cheshire-based Chevron to exhibit at Autosport International was not taken until last week as the finishing touches were being put to the prototype chassis. The body is the work of international automotive design consultant Lester Allen, an ex-GM studio chief designer and former senior Royal College of Art vehicle design course tutor. Most of Lester Allen's work in recent years has been behind the scenes for Asian manufacturers. Previous British car designs for which he has been responsible include the Bentley Continental R and Aston Martin Virage, both for the one-time Heffernan Greenley consultancy.

The Chevron installation features a PiRQ4 engine control unit incorporating technologies derived from ECUs used by winners of the FIA GT and World Rally Championship titles. The Cosworth electronics package includes a Pi Omega LCD panel display, providing crystal-clear readouts for the driver and seamless integration with the engine control unit data.

The Chevron GR8 is constructed around a centre section comprising a semi-monocoque aluminium sills and platform structure integrated with an MSA compliant roll cage in 50 mm diameter steel tube. Forward of the front bulkhead, a 50 mm and 25 mm box section steel spaceframe incorporates a removable nose box. The rear spaceframe is also in 50 mm and 25 mm box section steel. The sills make more effective use of material than might be the case with a tubular structure and are seen as a better solution to side impact protection. The braking system uses AP callipers, with 330 mm diameter by 28 mm wide discs at the front and 304 mm diameter by 28 mm discs at the rear. Steering is rack and pinion. All aeroquip is by Goodridge.

Two Chevron GR8 Challenge Series rounds will be run at each of the BARC meetings where the Series is in the programme and races will feature rolling starts. Entries are open to either one or two drivers. With a team of two, the idea is for each to contest one round. Accepting entries for two drivers creates obvious opportunities for sharing costs. As part of the support provided to participants, Chevron plans to have a pool car on hand as a spare should a competitor's own Chevron GR8 be unable to start a race for whatever reason.

The Chevron GR8 model name has aroused a certain amount of internet chatter. Chevron Racing's Helen Bashford-Malkie comments: "In the wake of the announcement late last year that the Chevron GR8 project was under way, I guess the name was up for discussion amongst blogging community for the reason that few hard details had been released about the car.

"The inclusion of '8' pays homage to the B8, the project's inspiration. 'GR' stands for Grand Touring/Racing, but as GTR is used for a Nissan model, we omitted 'T'. We elected for 'GR' because it's got a bit of 'grrrr' combativeness about it. If some people choose to interpret 'GR8' as texting for great well, okay. The fact that it is also being used in the name of the racing Series was also a consideration."

World Car of the Year

With the votes cast and counted, the winners of the 2010 World Car of the Year have been announced at the New York International Auto Show.



Overall World Car of the Year was the Volkswagen Polo Mark V, adding that title to the European 2010 Car of the Year award which it secured last November.

The runners-up slots were occupied by the Mercedes-Benz E-Class and, perhaps surprisingly given its well documented problems, the Toyota Prius.

Each of the ten finalists were assessed on merit, value, safety, environment, significance and emotional appeal. It was a close result, with the Polo achieving a weighted score of 761.1 points, just fourteen ahead of the E-Class.



The World Performance Car title went to the Audi R8 V10. The 518 bhp supercar, which shares its engine and chassis with the Lamborghini Gallardo, emerged as the clear winner. Second and third places were taken by the Porsche 911 GT3 and Ferrari California respectively.

After the diminutive Fiat 500 won the World Car Design of the Year in 2009, it seems the jurors wanted to bestow that accolade on something a bit bigger in 2010, because the most votes went to the Chevrolet Camaro.

Although all of the cars from the main WCOTY category were originally eligible for this award, a shortlist of four was drawn up by a panel of design experts prior to the ballot taking place. Alongside the Camaro, the Citroen C3 Picasso, Kia Soul and Toyota Prius were the other finalists.



The final prize on offer was World Green Car. In a similar way to the design award, a shortlist was drawn up by ‘green’ experts. This comprised the Ford Fusion Hybrid, Honda Insight, Mercedes-Benz S400 Hybrid, Toyota Prius and Volkswagen BlueMotion (Golf, Passat, Polo).



It was the last car (or should that be family of cars?) on the list that became the eventual winner, the jurors clearly impressed by the efficiency of the BlueMotion common-rail diesel engines. But isn’t it a cop-out to not give the award to a single model?

There probably won’t be any complaints about that from Volkswagen Group though, especially as this year it managed to win in three out of the four WCOTY categories.

Spec a McLaren MP4-12C

Although for many ownership of an MP4-12C will remain only a fantasy, McLaren has launched a configuration tool to help the dream come true… virtually, at least.

As expected, various paintwork and interior trim finishes can be specified. There’s also a choice of wheels and brakes, and optional carbon fibre can be selected for several panels around the car.

On the inside the standard in-car media, which features Bluetooth and a 40GB hard drive, can be upgraded to McLaren’s ‘Iris’ system. This includes a voice-activated navigation system, a larger capacity 80GB hard drive, and wireless connectivity to allow transfer of music tracks and other files directly from a laptop.

The one thing the configurator doesn’t do is tell you how much your finished creation would cost. However, it’s thought the MP4-12C will be priced below £175,000 when sales commence at the end of this year.
