Mercedes-Benz will borrow a platform for new "Smart" at Renault

Company Mercedes-Benz plans to enter into the partner agreement in which frameworks Germans will receive a platform for working out of car Smart ForFour of following generation with firm Renault.

It is expected, that this model will receive the front-wheel chassis of compact hatchback Twingo and will rise on the conveyor in 2013. On it informs magazine Autocar referring to not named high-ranking sources in Mercedes-Benz.

The novelty will receive the steel body which length will make no more than 3600 mm, width — 1700mm, and height — 1500mm. At present the detailed information on forthcoming cooperation, including given about, whether will be Mercedes-Benz and Renault to exchange engines and transmissions, yet it is not informed. However it is expected, that within the limits of partnership in a ruler and that and other mark there will be new petrol and diesel motors of small volume, in particular three-cylinder units which are already developed by "Mercedes". Creation of electric version Smart ForFour in which technologies of company Renault will be applied is besides, planned.

Officially about the partnership conclusion between Mercedes-Benz and Renault, and also about details of this cooperation and preparing projects, the head of concern Daimler will inform in September on autoshow in Frankfurt. In the same place will inform on strategy of development of "Smarts" in the future. According to some information, in the nearest some years for brand Smart will be created at least three new models.

The first Smart ForFour has appeared in 2004 and has been developed in cooperation with Japanese company Mitsubishi — the car has been constructed on the basis of hatchback Colt. Car manufacture has stopped all in two years because of low demand.

BMW will present in Frankfurt serial hybrids 7-Series and X6

Company BMW plans to present on September autoshow in Frankfurt serial versions of experimental hybrids 7-Series and X6 ActiveHybrid which have been shown for the first time in 2007 and 2008 at exhibitions in Paris and Frankfurt accordingly.

Both cars begin to be equipped with the hybrid power-plant including 407-strong 4,4-litre petrol V8, the electromotor power of 20 h.p. and lithium-ionic accumulators which will be located in a luggage carrier.

Cars can move as with use of the usual motor, and is exclusive on electrodraught. The stock of a course of novelties yet is not informed.

It is expected, that hybrid BMW 7-Series and X6 for 10-15 percent will be more economic, than the cars equipped with the traditional engine of a similar power.

On auto show in Frankfurt company BMW is full determination to present ecologically pure sports car, a hatchback 5-Series GT and crossover X1.

Rubber firm Kumho has developed an off-road car

South Korean company Kumho has presented the project of own off-road car received name Fortis and equipped with an electric power-plant.

As they say in the official press release, appearance of the car has been developed by designer Kumho and the former employee of the Turin design centre of Italian concern Fiat — Rob Dolton.

Bumpers, doors, a cowl, lobbies wings and a back part of a body of the car are made of the processed rubber, and movement an off-road car is carried out at the expense of four electric motors by power of 100 horsepowers everyone which are located in wheels. Energy electromotors receive lithium-ionic of the accumulators located under a floor in the central part of the car from the complete set.

Plans of manufacture of own off-road cars at company Kumho are not present.

The car has been created for demonstration of experimental tyre covers, drawing of a protector at which can change at will of the driver, button pressing in salon. For the best coupling with a covering on impassability the central part of a protector will fall slightly, opening metal "teeth". On an asphalt covering thorns to hide back.
